Balloon artists are a creative group of people who enjoy good music. So we've started adding music to our Wednesday shows. The artists are pretty much all unsigned but that doesn't mean they don't deserve to be heard. If you like someone, check out their website, buy their cd, go see them live. Enjoy the music. If you know of someone who deserves to be heard, drop me an email.
Lonesome Hank and The Heartaches We open the show with a few seconds of the song Lonesome Hank - from this band, my favorite local band. Bluesy Rockabilly at it's best. Like I say on the show - If you don't like Lonesome Hank, seek help, you need it. I can't pick a favorite song easily, I love the entire cd. Buy 2 copies. One for yourself and one for someone who likes to dance. It's hard to sit still when their music starts.
6 String Rodeo I'm tired of all the countrypop. This great band doesn't manages to keep their genre straigtht and play some great country, honkey tonk songs. They hail from Layfette, LA and you can find tour dates on their myspace site.
Lemon Roger Smith's beautiful voice and strong writing skills combine with Thor Madsen's playing and production to create soul music that can't be ignored. I love the song Daydreams.
Patrick van de Ven Patrick is not only an amazing balloon artist, he's a very talented musician as well. His music is very creative and expressive. Be sure to check out The Hangman's Trail.
GooZe Productions Mike DeGuzman is a one man band and still he managed to arrange some fantastic music. Check out Mother Funk for a real treat. He has tracks on myspace as well as several other sites,so there's plenty to choose from.
1984 I'm not sure how to classify 1984, but I don't care all that much - I just like them. Rejected the Flower gets a lot of play on my mp3 player. They're one of those groups that make me happy.
Ragged Glory Blues, Blues, Blues - hard to believe these guys are from North Carolina and not here in Kansas City. I chose Mother Nature at Her Worst for the cast because it's simple, a few chords, a raspy voice, simple beat and a harmonica - great blues.
Neversay It's rock. Not pop, not a collection of unrecognizable screams masquerading as music - but ROCK. I didn't see any live dates listed, but drop by their site and ask. If they're playing GO SEE THEM.
Jake Blanton A very talented jazz artist. I am lucky enough that he's here in Kansas City, so I can go see him live. If you can't get here, go to his website and listen. Besides the wonderful jazz, he's also a very talented singer/songwriter.
